Scholarship

Scholarship  Is A Core  Principle Of Omega  Psi  Phi  Fraternity

Scholarship

  • Scholarship is a core principle of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, reflecting its commitment to academic excellence, personal growth, and community leadership. By promoting scholarship, the fraternity empowers members and youth to pursue higher education, develop their intellectual potential, and achieve their career goals. This focus not only strengthens individuals but also uplifts communities, driving positive change and helping to create future leaders who embody the fraternity's values of perseverance, integrity, and service.

  • Sigma Rho demonstrates its commitment to scholarship through its active involvement on the Board of Directors of the Southeast Michigan Omega Foundation Inc. (SMOFI), a non-profit organization dedicated to mentoring and awarding two four-year scholarships to deserving young men from Washtenaw County, amounting to $6,000 annually.

  • These scholarships are named in honor of two of Sigma Rho’s most esteemed leaders: Brother Sidney L. Moore, the first Basileus of Sigma Rho, and Brother Robert Brown, a revered member of the Sigma Rho and the fraternity.

  • Brother Moore and Brother Brown epitomized the significance of scholarship in advancing in their own careers and having mentored countless men to become leaders in their families, schools, churches, and industries. Their legacy continues to inspire the fraternity's dedication to educational empowerment and community leadership.
